Water Level Controller Circuit

Introduction:

This project aims to create an efficient water level controller circuit employing the NE 555 Timer IC. The primary purpose is to manage water levels in residential and office tanks effectively, thereby contributing to water conservation by automatically halting the water pump when the tank reaches full capacity. The estimated cost for the circuit board is 250 Rupees.

Working:

The heart of the circuit is the NE 555 IC, combined with a 12V relay for the output. Utilizing a relay facilitates the operation of AC appliances, and it is crucial to match the relay's voltage rating with the circuit voltage. The operational voltage for this system is a 12 Volt DC power supply.

The 4th and 8th pins of the NE 555 IC are connected to the positive terminal, while the 1st and 5th pins, in conjunction with a 104-disc capacitor, are linked to the negative terminal of the power supply. As the voltage at the VCC reaches the 6th and 2nd pins of the IC, the relay switches to the Normally Open (NO) mode. When the water level touches the 2nd pin of the IC, the relay shifts to the Normally Closed (NC) mode, activating the water pump. The 3rd pin of the IC is connected in series with a 1KΩ resistor, forming the base of the BC547 transistor. Additionally, the 3rd pin of the IC is grounded with an 180KΩ resistor.

Uses of This Project:

This water level controller is particularly beneficial for tall buildings where efficient control of the water pump motor is essential. The automatic operation ensures that the water pump activates only when necessary, preventing unnecessary water wastage.

Note:

You can use a below 6 Ampere AC motor with this standard relay. For higher amperage motors, consider using an appropriately rated relay to ensure optimal performance.

Conclusion:

This water level controller circuit is a cost-effective solution for managing water levels in tanks, providing an automated and efficient method for controlling water pump motors. Its applications extend to various settings, with a particular emphasis on tall buildings where water management is crucial.
