Introduction:
This post provides a simple guide on creating a Remote Tester Circuit using a BC-557 Transistor and TSOP-1738 IR Receiver. The circuit is designed for applications in small stores, such as testing TV and other appliance remotes. Below are the correct instructions for building and testing the circuit.
Circuit Connection:
- Place the BC-557 Transistor on the DOT Board and solder it.
- Solder the TSOP-1738 IR Receiver on the left side of the DOT Board, and solder the Regulator IC on the right corner.
- Connect a 1KΩ resistor between the Transistor’s Base (2nd Pin) and IR Receiver’s 3rd Pin (Out Pin).
- Connect the Receiver’s 2nd Pin to the 3rd Pin of the 7805 Regulator IC, and connect the 1st Pin to the -ve of the Power Supply.
- Connect the Transistor's 3rd Pin (Emitter) to the -ve of the Power Supply.
- Connect the Output LED & Buzzer’s -ve to the Collector pin of the Transistor.
- Connect the 220Ω Resistor’s 1st Pin to the LED’s +ve.
- Connect the Resistor’s 2nd Pin & Buzzer’s +ve to the 3rd Pin of the 7805 Regulator IC.
- Connect the Regulator IC’s 2nd Pin to the -ve of the Power Supply and solder the Power Supply Wires.

Working:
To activate the circuit, provide a power supply exceeding 5 volts. Upon powering, pressing a button on the test remote triggers the TSOP-1738 IR Receiver to receive the signal. The received signal is then inputted into the BC-557 Transistor, which amplifies it. The amplified signal is collected by the Collector Pin, activating the LED and buzzer to indicate the reception of the IR signal.
